Downy, and Tide Commercial (2013) (Television Commercial)

This commercial bugs me every time I see it. (Gosh, has it really been around since 2013?!) You can see the full transcript by following the link, but two parts stand out to me.

Ah, Lily. She pretty much lives in her favorite princess dress…

And since I’m the one that has to do the laundry, I do what any expert dad would do – I let her play sheriff.

It sounds worse in the shortened version of the commercial, where he basically says “she lives in her princess dress, so once a week I let her play sheriff.”

I am guessing they didn’t mean it the way it sounds, but the word choice seems poor. “Let” her play sheriff? Sigh.
